About Would living in Hayward, CA be boring

Would living in Hayward, CA be boring?
I'm relocating from the midwest, will be working in Fremont and like how central Hayward is to San Fran, Oakland and San Jose, but am concerned it would be incredibly dull. That having been said, it is also a lot cheaper than the other areas I've been looking at. Suggestions?

Not really, I've lived in the bay area for most of my life and besides it being beautiful and filled with diversity there are a lot of things to do. I don't know what you like to do but the city has plenty of night clubs and bars. There is practically everything there, actually. If you make friends you will have a blast I guarantee.

I have never lived in Hayward but I did go and work there for a few weeks and I the area I was in was kind of crappy and looked like a high crime area (lots of police sirens). So I would say just make sure you pick a decent part of town.

Well you're pretty much right on... I'm from San Jose. Hayward is kind of dull... considering it's neighboring areas... however, it's cheaper :/ The cooler places are definately across the bridge from Fremont.. like Menlo Park, Redwood City, and Palo Alto.. though they're more pricey. What about south of Fremont... like Milpitas... I used to work over that way, not bad with prices and it's sort of central Bay?

Yes it can be.. But if you have a car, you can always drive over to the city..

You are thinking about moving to California and you are considering Hayward? That would be like thinking about moving to all the excitement of New York and considering the South Bronx. California is, in general, a very nice place. Hayward is, in general, a really crappy place. Downtown San Jose, Los Gatos, and Palo Alto all have nightlife, though nothing spectacular. Parts of Oakland are teeming with nightlife, as is obviously San Francisco.

Hayward is dull and there isn't much of an entertainment/nightlife district that you could walk around. But if you have a car, you'll be fine. Also the subway (BART) will take you all around the bay easily.

The crime rate is really high there, so it won't be too dull. You will have easy freeway access to everything.

There is a reason why Hayward is a lot cheaper. It is dull, there is absolutely no nightlife and honestly, it is not all that safe (it is a suburb but it's a sketchy one on could argue you wold be better off in the Flatlands because at there would be a party going on and something to do . . .). If you are working in Fremont, you may want to consider Pleasanton. It is still suburban and very family orientated- but there are some gems (ok maybe not gems but there is some stuff to do and they do have an awesome Farmers Market on Main Street and some restuarants were people in their twenties hang out. Granted these are the people in their twenties who never left home but still they are young and mostly single). It's a nice suburb and you could a really nice apartment for fairly cheap. And a bunch of your coworkers probably live there (with their families). You could also consider Walnut Creek (a bit too cheesy and WHITE for my taste but there is nightlife and plenty of beer) or Palo Alto (surprisingly nice and fun with lots of stuff to do) or Burligame (which is also surprisingly fun). I am not a fan of South Bay in general, but if you must live there, consider Downtown San Jose or Willow Glen. These areas are almost urban and have lots of young people in them with coffee shops, cute (cutish) boutiques and good places to eat. Or, and this my recommendation, screw the commute and just live in SF, Oakland or Berkeley. You'll spend most of your time in one (or all) of these areas anyway.
