About What San Jose neighborhood is Santana Row in

What San Jose neighborhood is Santana Row in?
I'm relocating to the area from MN and looking for cute neighborhoods. I'll be working in Fremont but want to be in a larger city, so since San Jose is the closest one, I figured I'd look for something there. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm 30 and single, so I'd like to be close to shopping/restaurants/nightlife... thanks!

Santana Row is kind of it's own neighborhood. It's an upscale area. It's got shopping, hotel, spas, restaurants, clubs downstaurs and residential living above that. It's a very popular place to meet friends and grab a bite. Just outside of Santana Row is another huge shopping mall, movie theaters, restaurants, and two very major(busy) streets- San Carlos/Stevens Creek and Winchester Ave. It's also close to 2 freeways. I've never actually seen the real estate portion of Santa Row- not the inside anyway. I heard that it is very expensive. Parking can be a pain also, althought I suppose if you lived there, they might have a special are for residents to park. Not sure about that. You might want to consider Downtown Campbell as an alternative. The rents are cheaper, and the area has all kinds of shopping, restaurants, movies, plus easy access to light rail and freeways.

Santana Row is in San Jose's West side, almost at the opposite end of the valley from Fremont, so you can expect a pretty long commute, depending on your work hours. For looking it up on the map, Santana Row is at the corner of Stevens Creek and Winchester Boulevard. It is one of the most busy intersections in the city. It is also across from another major shopping mall, Westfield Shoppingtown, Valley Fair. Along Stevens Creek, in one direction is the beginning of one of San Jose's Auto Row, and, in the other direction, many antique stores and Korean restaurants. It is also at the borderline between the City of San Jose and the City of Santa Clara. Like any big city, every neighborhood has a mix of good and bad. If you plan to LIVE within the Santana Row complex, you should find it very pleasant. Freeway access is very easy.
