How can I live on my own in the Bay area at age 20?
Im 20 years old, and I want to join a jr college, but I just cant go to school and fully concentrate on my studies at home, and my parents want me OUT! I live in Fremont, work part time, I make about 275 weekly. My sights are set on a studio or a 1 bdrm, but Im willing to live with friends as long as we have separate bedrooms. Im wondering if I can get in a low income apartment? What cities have are the cheapest to live in? Im not really concerned about living conditions just as long as i dont end up in a ghetto like oakland or richmond. Where do I look? What aare the chances?

You will not qualify for low income, you are not working enough, you have to work at least 35 hours a week. With your income ghetto is all you can afford. San Leandro and San Lorenzo are other options. There are apartments on Fremont Blvd, south of the Hub, but north of Stevenson that are cheap, with a roommate you might manage there. Try The Village Green, they have 2 bedroom places.

Not sure what part of the Bay Area you're considering, but Concord will be the cheapest in the East Bay. You can go to DVC when you're ready to junior college. I had a one-bedroom apartment there for about $1000/month in downtown (near Park N' Shop, aka "little Mexico"). This was about 2 weeks after I turned 18, no cosigner required. As long as you don't mind crappy Mexican music blaring everywhere you drive, it's ok. However, $275/week isn't enough to rent even in the ghetto. There should be no reason why you can't go to school full-time and work full-time, unless you have children. I was working 50 hours/week while going to med school at night, full-time, and graduated with a 4.0 GPA. Junior college is a breeze compared to that.

Have you ever thought about going back to school and just working from home? with your income you want even be able to get anything at all.You should try to build your income up. I am young just like you go to school and work from home and have my own house. I am in business with a health and wellness company with men and women and we educate about our natural products but we don't sell/ You will get full training as well.
